About The Program

Sensei McBratney teaches two students

Mumonkan-Do Aikido has remained in the same location (on Skypark Circle) since we opened the dojo in 1990. The youth program was created shortly thereafter (1991) by McBratney Sensei. In addition to the classes at our Irvine Dojo, the Youth Program has been taught to hundreds of children and teenagers at Orange Coast College, Saddleback College, Rancho Santiago College, and many more locations. We provide quality Aikido instruction in a fun but disciplined atmosphere for ages 8-16.

Martial art training can, and should, be a beneficial experience for a child. At Mumonkan-Do, students can expect to benefit from the training in numerous ways. The disciplined atmosphere, and positive role models in the instructors and assistants, help students develop respect, discipline, and a cooperative attitude. The demands of the training itself foster the growth of concentration and self-confidence, and will improve fitness and posture.
