Creating Space For Your Lungs
An Introduction And 8 Lessons
$55.00

This series of lessons is an innovative and powerfully effective movement awareness program that can help you to enjoy a freer, easier, deeper and less habituated way of breathing - a way of breathing that is characterized by greater resilience and responsivity to the present moment.

Because Dr. Parker introduces Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory and emphasizes the importance of nervous system feed-back loops, this series can also help you to restore balance to your autonomic nervous system (the stress control mechanism in your brain).  When one’s autonomic nervous system is out of balance (which is the case for many people in these fast-paced, modern times) one feels less and less able to cope with everyday stressors. Conversely, when balance is restored to the stress control mechanism, one feels more resilient and more able to cope with the stressors of everyday life.

Lori A. Parker, GCFP, S.E.P., Ph.D. brings to these lessons her 20 years of experience as a Feldenkrais Practitioner, and also her 18 years of experience as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.  Somatic Experiencing is a method designed to resolve shock reactions in the nervous system and to help restore the optimum functioning of one’s autonomic nervous system.  Dr. Parker has written extensively on the function of the autonomic nervous system and how to go about restoring its balance.

Polyvagal Theory For The Lay Person
Presented By Dr. Benjamin Shield
$45.00

Stephen Porges' "Polyvagal Theory" is a new understanding of the Autonomic Nervous System which has huge implications for trauma therapies. The articles detailing Porges' theory, however, are quite technical. For those without an academic background in biology, physiology, or neuroscience, these articles may be difficult to read, understand, and interpret. So, Dr. Lori A. Parker asked her friend Dr. Benjamin Shield to teach a one-day workshop on the theory. She wondered if he could turn "Porges into English". Dr. Shield agreed to develop this one-day course in order to help those without his scientific background to better understand the relevance and implications of Porges' theory. This purchase will consist of 2 downloadable files with Dr. Benjamin Shield's original presentation of Dr. Porges' Polyvagal Theory.
